Build upon freestyle and all-mountain fundamentals with a greater emphasis on skill development and technique.
Expand upon your freestyle snowboarding experience in the Snowboard Freestylers program. This program is for snowboarders ages 8-17. Throughout the duration of the program, you will be introduced to the Advanced Terrain Park and halfpipe, as well as receive continued coaching in the Intermediate Terrain Park and halfpipe. Athletes in the 2-days-per-week program may also be introduced to training on WinSport's hybrid airbag, at their coach’s discretion, towards the end of the season (additional waiver is required).
Training sessions are 3 hours long and offer a structured approach to furthering the development of foundational and freestyle-specific skills. Athletes in the Freestylers program level are at the FUNdamentals level of Canada Snowboard’s Long-Term Athlete Development model (LTAD), progressing to the Learn to Train level.
We recommend that athletes looking to advance their skills and/or compete at club or provincial competitions attend fall training.
Athlete's skill development will progress through the season working towards riding with confidence in our Advanced Terrain Park.
Advanced Terrain Park Information
Season-long programs start Saturday, November 22 to Friday, November 28. With the winter hill currently set to open for skiers and riders on Friday, December 5, please note that season-long programs are scheduled to begin in a dryland format.
Terms of Contract
IMPORTANT – WAIVERS REQUIRED
A Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement(s) ("Waiver(s)") must be completed prior to participation in WinSport’s Programs, Lessons, and Camps. If the applicable Waiver(s) are not completed, participation in the WinSport Program and access to WinSport’s facilities will not be permitted, and a refund will be provided.
The Waiver(s) will be available for completion during the sales process, and copies are available for preview below.
- The Waiver(s) will apply to all Ski & Snowboard Activities (as defined in the Waiver(s)), including without limitation all day ticket use, season pass use, and participation in all programs, camps, lessons and events for the period of time set out in the Waiver(s).
- A parent/guardian must complete the Waiver(s) for their minor/child participant.
PLEASE READ THE WAIVER(S) CAREFULLY! By signing, you will waive or give up certain legal rights, including the right to sue for negligence, breach of contract, or breach of the Occupiers’ Liability Act or claim compensation following an accident.

NO GUARANTEE OF CONDITIONS - We do not guarantee hill conditions, weather or other operating conditions including open terrain or lift operation.
NO FOOT TRAFFIC ALLOWED ON SKI HILL - For the safety of WinSport’s guests, there is no foot traffic allowed or on-hill viewing of winter lessons. Parents (including carpet-only ticket holders) are not allowed on snow without ski or snowboard equipment and a valid ticket/pass. Only persons with a valid ticket/pass who are skiing or snowboarding with appropriate equipment will be permitted on snow.
ENROLLMENT IS REVOCABLE WITHOUT REFUND IN THE EVENT OF MISCONDUCT. CANCELLATION OF ENROLLMENT AND REFUNDS ARE SUBJECT TO WINSPORT’S REFUND POLICY.

LESSONS, CAMPS AND PROGRAMS REFUND POLICY - Refund Policy
Structure: Athletes can train once a week, or more as needed! If you are looking to progress faster or train more frequently, you can register for as many sessions as you wish.
Duration: Offered in season-long, January-start, and spring program formats.
Full-season and January-start programs end the week of March 17-23 or will be extended one week if any sessions are cancelled by WinSport due to weather. Spring programs end in the final week of March.
Group formation: Groups will be based on similar participant skill levels and ages, and may be combined at times.
Key Goals
- Fundamental skills: Continued development of switch riding, snowboarding on steep slopes, and an athletic snowboarding position.
- Terrain exploration: Safely learn to navigate the jumps and features in the Advanced Terrain Park and learn control and line choice in the halfpipe. Coaching will also include continued development on jumps, features, and technique/line choice in the Intermediate Terrain Park.
- Jump techniques: Master the basics of jumps, including proper popping and takeoff, mid-air control, and safe landings.
- Expanded coaching on tricks: Expand your bag of tricks to include multiple directions of spins, additional grabs, and new ways to approach boxes under the guidance of our skilled coaches.
- Safety focus: Learning to manage risk is paramount in freestyle snowboarding. You will receive comprehensive instruction on proper progression, understanding Terrain Park etiquette, and personal well-being while having fun on the slopes.
Prerequisites
- Snowboarders should be able to confidently ride Blue terrain and make controlled parallel turns on groomed Black terrain.
- Snowboarders should have received an introduction to small jumps (and boxes equivalent to those) in the Intermediate Terrain Park.
- A WinSport Advanced Access Winter Pass is required – lift tickets are not included in the program fee.
Mandatory Equipment
Snowboarders should have their own properly fitting equipment, including a true twin or freestyle snowboard with quality metal edges, snowboard boots, and a CSA approved Snow Sport Helmet.
Memberships
- An athlete membership with Alberta Snowboard is required for all freestyle camps and programs. This membership is valid until June 30, 2026.
- Register with WinSport Freestyle Snowboard Club ($0).
