Thanks to warm weather and COVID-19, the complex job of making the varied ski and snowboard terrain at WinSport is more challenging than usual this winter. We have had fewer days cold enough for snowmaking than ever before. We also had to remove the lower terrain park (the progression park) because that area became too congested to be able to maintain COVID-19 protocols. We could not risk having the entire hill shut down for the sake of the progression park.
The high demand for WinSport passes and tickets this year shows how important our facility is to the mental and physical health of Calgarians. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on the bigger terrain features. We are following the same snowmaking priority plan as we do every year, which works east to west across the hill. We hope to have everything open by the end of January, weather permitting.
