Ages 6 - 13 / Levels 1, 2, 3, 4

Watch your child's passion for skiing take off in our Radical Riders ski programs. These lessons are for active kids to have a blast on snow, gain confidence, improve their riding skills, and build friendships in a safe learning environment.

New this season Radical Riders Ski program offers two separate age groups: 6-9 and 9-12. These lessons are 2 hours long and include hill access for your lesson time. Lessons for ages 6-9 are offered at 1 instructor per 6 participants (1:6 ratio). Our 9-12 program is offered at a 1:8 ratio.

All levels may be repeated to help build a solid foundation and allow your child to develop their skills at their own pace in a safe learning environment.

Radical Rippers - Level 1

Fun skiing-related games and tactics are used to provide an engaging and active introduction to skiing with the goal of building a lifelong love of the sport. Students will learn how to control speed and change direction. Level 1 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation.

Pre-requisites

  • No previous ski experience required
  • Able to remain active for 2 hours

Key Goals

  • Come to a complete stop using a snow plow (pizza shape)
  • Complete turns on green terrain
  • Get up on their own after falling

Equipment Required

Dress in layers so you can adjust your temperature for hill conditions and stay dry. Come wearing the following items for a successful lesson experience:

  • Buff or face covering
  • CWSAA approved Snow Sport Helmet
  • Goggles
  • Base layers made of moisture-wicking fabric
  • Winter jacket
  • Waterproof snow pants
  • Wool socks
  • Gloves/mittens
  • Neck warmer
  • Skis with metal edges and release bindings

Radical Rippers - Level 2

This program is for kids who are continuing to develop fundamental skills and build confidence, but are ready to progress onto more difficult green runs. Level 2 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation for a long skiing future.

Pre-requisites

  • Successfully completed Level 1 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 1

Able to:

  • Come to a complete stop using a snow plow (pizza shape)
  • Complete turns on green terrain
  • Get up on their own after falling

Key Goals

  • Comfortably link turns around obstacles
  • Varying the size and speed of turns
  • Developing balance while on skis
  • Start using the chairlift

Equipment Required

  • CWSAA approved Snow Sport Helmet
  • Goggles

Radical Rippers - Level 3

Students start skiing faster on steeper terrain, while learning how to keep their skis parallel through the turn. This program progresses from beginner to intermediate terrain on the chairlift. Level 3 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation for a long skiing future.

Pre-requisites

  • Successfully completed Level 2 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 2

Able to:

  • Control speed and direction on green terrain
  • Experience skiing on runs from the top of the chairlift

Key Goals

  • Comfortably ski from top to bottom while carrying out various skill drills, such as skiing on one ski
  • Skiing and stopping with parallel skis

Radical Rippers - Level 4

This program focuses on refining fundamental skills and equipping students with the tools to ski any terrain confidently. Your child will develop stronger parallel on intermediate terrain and learn to ride all kinds of terrain with ease.

Pre-requisites

  • Successfully completed Level 3 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 3

Able to:

  • Ski with parallel skis on most terrain
  • Vary turn shape on steeper terrain
  • Confidently try new and challenging terrain

Key Goals

  • Introduce refined edge control and carving
  • Instill skills and confidence to attempt any terrain
