Success Stories
Talan’s Story: Turning Pain into Power
Talan was just 12 years old when life dealt him challenges most of us can barely imagine. Born with cerebral palsy affecting his right arm and leg, he faced daily
hurdles that required resilience far beyond his years. But the physical obstacles weren’t the hardest part — Talan had also endured painful bullying that left lasting
emotional scars. Then came WinSport.
In the heart of our summer camps, something extraordinary happened. Talan found more than just a program — he found a community that saw his potential, not his limitations. He was met with open arms, compassion, and an unshakable belief in his strength. Slowly, the weight of his trauma began to lift. Surrounded by supportive mentors and peers, Talan laughed, played, and built friendships — maybe for the first time, truly feeling like he belonged.
What began as a safe space became a launchpad. Talan’s challenges didn’t disappear, but he learned how to stand taller in the face of them. His time at WinSport has helped him transform pain into power, and vulnerability into courage. Today, that confidence carries with him everywhere he goes, and his mom is forever thankful. Because at WinSport, sport isn’t just about performance — it’s about healing, growth, and hope.
"WinSport improved my sons mental health and turns out, mine too."
- Tatiana, Talan’s Mom
Sawyer and Cassandra: A Family Transformed
For Sawyer, the world was filled with limitations. Living with a rare neuromuscular disorder, he relies on a power wheelchair and requires a tracheostomy for overnight breathing. For years, sports and physical activity felt like doors forever closed.
Until they found WinSport.
Through our Adapted Multi-Sport program, Sawyer entered a world he had only dreamed of — a world where sport was not about exclusion, but possibility. He played, competed, smiled, and discovered something priceless: that he belonged. But the impact reached even further.
Sawyer’s mom, Cassandra, watched her son light up in ways she’d never seen. His joy, his confidence, his breakthroughs — they opened her heart to a whole new world too.
In empowering Sawyer, WinSport empowered a family. Because when one child is given the space to thrive, the ripple effects can touch every corner of a home, a community, and a city.
At WinSport, we don’t just teach sport. We unlock potential. We restore hope. We build lives.
"My son has opened my world to so many thing, including adapted sports."
- Cassandra, Sawyer's Mom

Day Lodge
A catalyst for the future
Reopening at the end of 2025, WinSport’s revitalized Day Lodge represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape how our community comes together through sport. The Day Lodge originally opened in 1987 as the media centre for the 1988 Olympics.
This $45-million project has secured $17.5 million from both the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta, with additional support required from private donors and corporate sponsors. With 75,000 square feet of newly modernized and expanded space, the new Day Lodge will be the heartbeat of Canada Olympic Park.
- Inclusive – Enhanced accessibility for all.
- Sustainable – Zero-carbon certified and environmentally led.
- Inspiring – Expanded programs, greater impact, lasting memories.
Your support now will help bring this vision to life — and ensure that the Day Lodge becomes a beacon of belonging for decades to come.

Discovery Park
There is no better place to learn how to ski
How many times have you heard, “I learned how to ski at Paskapoo.” Well, today’s Discovery Park Enhancement Project is designed to transform WinSport’s learner area. Upgrades to the snow school lodge and beginner zones will make this space fully accessible and inclusive for every guest into the future — especially participants in adapted programs.
Together, the new Day Lodge and Discovery Park will serve as the beating heart of our campus, welcoming all who wish to explore the thrilling world of snow sports.
