Cheers to this summer’s final Thirsty Thursday and Summer Wrap
Yet another year of the WinSport Bike Park is about to conclude, but there’s still two more chances to raise a collective toast to the season.
Tonight’s Thirsty Thursday (5 p.m.-9 p.m.) will once again be the place to be for riders to come together after their time on the trails.
Located at the Village of the Day Lodge parking lot, the gathering place features a BBQ and cold beverages.
This season has faced some challenges due to Mother Nature, but we hope to end the season with a bang on Labour Day Monday, with our Summer Wrap. The season finale at the Bike Park runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will feature a live DJ in the Day Lodge parking lot from noon to 4 p.m., along with a BBQ and cold drinks.
Summer season pass holders can enjoy a free hot dog and a bottled Pepsi beverage, by picking up a voucher at the Guest Services trailer at the Bike Park entrance and redeeming it in the Day Lodge parking lot.
WinSport appreciates all of our summer pass holders and day ticket guests and looks forward to welcoming you back either this winter or next summer.
The unofficial end to summer also marks another successful season of partnering with a notable nearby business.
“The partnership between Bow Cycle and WinSport began all the way back in 2005,” says Jack MacPherson, Sales Team Lead/Assistant Manager at Bow Cycle. “WinSport is one of the best places for people to get into the sport and to progress into any skill level, so it’s a natural fit. We hold the same values in trying to support our local community and making riding more accessible to everyone.”
As a go-to retailer for all sorts of local cyclists, Bow Cycle is stocked with mountain bikes, e-bikes, road bikes, along with all the gear and accessories you need.
“Bow Cycle is a local, community-focused bike shop located near WinSport and is one of the best one-stop shops for all different kinds of riders,” MacPherson sums up. “We have one of the best inventories and brand selections in the area. And, with the experience we have within our service, sales, and parts departments, our goal is to give everyone the best cycling experience possible.”
Bow Cycle’s consistent presence at Thirsty Thursdays with their own tent provides them additional exposure to their target market. Furthermore, they regularly work with WinSport to create more opportunities for everyone to develop skills and build confidence on the summer hill terrain.
“Thirsty Thursdays is another great way for us to connect directly with riders and bring everybody together do what we love most—riding bikes with our friends,” says MacPherson. “These events give us the chance to share our passion, support the community, and help create the most fun possible. As we like to say, Bow Cycle is ‘Where the Fun Begins’.”
After operating a single location for more than 60 years, Bow Cycle expanded beyond Bowness when they opened their East Village storefront in 2021. Tremendous growth within the bike industry precipitated the decision.
“Mountain biking has seen a huge boom with lots of pump tracks, trail initiatives, and riding sports popping up all over the city, which has been incredible to see,” MacPherson indicates with enthusiasm. “WinSport is also a great example of how mountain biking is thriving in Calgary and moving in an exciting direction.”
Riders, and all other guests at Canada Olympic Park, are encouraged to come out to tonight’s final Thirsty Thursday of 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m., and take in the action on Monday for the Summer Wrap.
