Your child will learn valuable skills while having fun in a safe, encouraging environment. Choose from parented (ages 2-5) or unparented (ages 3-5) programs.

Preschool Learn to Skate - Level Parent & Tot

If your child is a new to skating, this is the program for you! Ideal for those who have never been on the ice before or have trouble standing on their own. Our trained instructors will help your child get more comfortable on the ice by learning how to improve balance, walk and march, fall down, and get back up. In this Parent & Tot program, skaters must be accompanied by an adult who is able to skate while supporting their child on the ice.

Pre-requisites

  • Parents must be able to skate while supporting a child
  • No child pre-requisite

  • CSA certified hockey helmet (full face mask is highly recommended)
  • Hockey or figure skates
  • Knee and elbow pads (recommended)
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Snow pants (recommended)
  • Winter gloves or mittens

Parent

  • CSA certified hockey helmet – full face mask is recommended
  • Hockey or figure skates
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Winter gloves or mittens

IMPORTANT – WAIVER(S) REQUIRED

A Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement ("Waiver") must be completed prior to participation in any WinSport Programs, Lessons, and Camps. If the applicable Waiver(s) is/are not completed, participation in the WinSport Program and access to WinSport's facilities will not be permitted, and a refund will be provided.

  • A Parent/guardian must complete the applicable Waiver(s) for their minor/child participants

  • Any issued passes are non-transferable and can only be used by the participant

Preschool Learn to Skate - Level 1

Preschool Learn to Skate - Level 2

If your child has mastered basic skating skills, they're ready for Level 2! This program is for skaters who can move around the ice on their own and are ready to learn new skills such as gliding on one and two feet, walking backwards and stopping.

Pre-requisites

  • Preschool Level 1 or equivalent

Equipment Required

  • CSA certified hockey helmet (full face mask is highly recommended)
  • Hockey or figure skates
  • Knee and elbow pads (recommended)
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Snow pants (recommended)
  • Winter gloves or mittens

Key Goals

  • Gliding on one and two feet
  • Walking backwards and stopping.

  • Skate/ Helmet Rental @ $5 per lesson

Preschool Learn to Skate - Level 3

Build on a strong skating foundation with this intermediate preschool program. Your child will work on improving forward and backward skating as well as stopping and turning.

Pre-requisites

  • Preschool Level 2 or equivalent.

Equipment Required

  • CSA certified hockey helmet (full face mask is highly recommended)
  • Hockey or figure skates
  • Knee and elbow pads (recommended)
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Snow pants (recommended)
  • Winter gloves or mittens

Key Goals

  • Improve forward and backward skating stopping and turning

Preschool Learn to Skate - Level 4

With basic and intermediate skating skills firmly in place, your advanced preschool skater will improve skills such as edge control, backward skating, stopping and turning.

Pre-requisites

  • Preschool Level 3 or equivalent.

  • CSA certified hockey helmet (full face mask is highly recommended)
  • Hockey or figure skates
  • Knee and elbow pads (recommended)
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Snow pants (recommended)
  • Winter gloves or mittens

Key Goals

  • Improve edge control, backward skating, stopping and turning.

  • Skate/ Helmet Rental @ $5 per lesson
