Check out the Skills Centre, roam an endless network of trails and try out the chairlift terrain with a group of children who are excited to explore. By the end of the program your child will be itching to go ride again.

Learn more about the basics and continue building confidence on two wheels! Beginner (Level 1) is for kids who can balance and ride independently on flat terrain and want to be more adventurous on their bikes.
Pre-requisites
- Can pedal and stay balanced on bumpy or grassy terrain.
- Safe use of brakes on and off pathways.
Equipment Required
- Front and rear disk brakes required
- Front suspension required
- Certified/Approved Helmet required
Key Goals
- Can pedal and stay balanced on Green (beginner) terrain.
- Can sometimes stand up off the seat while riding over bumpy terrain.
- Can comfortably stop, steer and change direction.
- Introduced to using gears.

Learn more about the basics and get comfortable riding off the beaten path! Level 2 is for kids who can ride independently on gentle terrain and want to be more adventurous on their bikes.
Pre-requisites
- Can ride on pathways and gentle terrain
- Use brakes to stop on Green (beginner) terrain.
- Understand the difference between high or low gear.
- Can pedal and stay balanced while standing up off the seat on Green (beginner) terrain.
Equipment Requirements
- Front and rear disk brakes required
- Front suspension required
- Certified/Approved Helmet required
Key Goals
- Safe use of front and back brakes on Green and gentle Blue (Intermediate) terrain while staying in control.
- Can shift gears correctly to climb up green terrain more easily or descend quicker.
- Can choose the appropriate line to move around obstacles on the trail

Explore exciting new trails while continuing to develop important skills! Level 3 prepares children for more challenging terrain. To be prepared for this level, your child should already be comfortable riding in a standing ‘ready’ position on Green (beginner) terrain.
Pre-requisites
- Safe use of front and back brakes on Green and gentle Blue (intermediate) terrain while staying in control.
- Understands the difference between high or low gear.
- Can shift gears correctly to climb or descend Green terrain more easily.
- Can choose the appropriate line to move around obstacles on the trail.

- Front suspension required
- Certified/Approved Helmet required
- Knee & elbow pads recommended
Key Goals
- Can pedal and stay balanced while standing up off the seat on Blue (intermediate) terrain.
- Can show a proper ‘climbing’ or ‘ready’ position while riding up or down Blue terrain.
- Safe use of front and back brakes on Blue terrain while staying in control.
- Can shift gears correctly to go up or down Green or Blue terrain while maintaining speed.
- Can maneuver around small obstacles (sticks, rocks, puddles) on Green or Blue terrain.

Conquer challenging terrain and refine your skills! Level 4 gives children the tools to climb and descend through more difficult terrain with confidence. To be prepared for this level, your child should already be comfortable riding in a standing ‘ready’ position on Green (beginner) and easier Blue terrain.

- Can pedal and stay balanced while standing up off the seat on Blue (intermediate) terrain.
- Can show a proper ‘climbing’ or ‘ready’ position while riding up or down Blue terrain.
- Safe use of front and back brakes on blue terrain while staying in control.
- Can shift gears correctly to go up or down Green (beginner) or Blue terrain while maintaining speed.
- Can maneuver around small obstacles (sticks, rocks, puddles) on Green or Blue terrain.

- Front suspension required
- Certified/Approved Helmet required
- Knee & elbow pads recommended
Key Goals
- Can use correct uphill or downhill position on technical Blue (intermediate) terrain
- Safe use of both brakes on technical Blue terrain to maintain traction.
- Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
- Shift gears pre-emptively through uphill or downhill terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
- Can ‘ghost shift’ to transition between gears efficiently.
- Can ride over small obstacles (sticks, rocks, etc.) with correct body position.
- Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line in a corner or on a technical Blue trail.

Push the limits with your riding in our Advanced (Level 5) program. This program gives young riders the tools to tackle advanced terrain with ease. Our instructors will provide tips, tactics and feedback to help refine technical skills while having fun on the trails. To be prepared for this level, your child should already be comfortable riding on Blue (Intermediate) or mild Black (advanced) terrain.
Pre-requisites
- Can use correct uphill or downhill position on most Blue (intermediate) terrain
- Can adjust use of brakes to maintain traction and stay in control.
- Shifting gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
- Can ride over small obstacles (sticks, rocks, etc.) with correct body position.
- Can show proper technique over a small jump.
- Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line on a Blue trail.
- Introduced to maneuvers like "rear wheel lifts", "roll ins" and "bunny hops", etc.
Equipment Required
- Front and rear disk brakes required
- Front suspension required
- Rear suspension recommended
- Dropper post recommended
- Certified/Approved Helmet required - Full Face helmet recommended
- Knee pads strongly recommended
- Other body armour such as neck brace, chest/back protector, elbow pads recommended
Key Goals
- Use correct uphill or downhill position on technical Blue and easier Black terrain
- Efficient use of both brakes on technical blue terrain to maintain traction and control.
- Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
- Using rotation to help steer through corners.
- Consistently shift gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence, and has been introduced to "Ghost Shifting".
- Can clear small jumps and roll medium sized tabletops.
- Ride drops or natural features with correct stance.
- Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on a technical Blue trail.
- Confidently demonstrate "rear wheel lifts", "roll ins" and "bunny hops".

Take your skills to the next level in our Berm Bandits advanced plus (level 6) program. Our coaches will give you the tools to go faster while refining technique on advanced terrain. To be prepared for this level, you should already be comfortable riding advanced terrain and able to ride most trails and features in the West Trees.
Pre-requisites
- Use correct uphill or downhill position on technical Blue and easier Black terrain
- Efficient use of both brakes on technical blue terrain to maintain traction and control.
- Correct timing when using brakes to maintain speed and control.
- Using rotation to help steer thru corners.
- Consistently shift gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence, and has been introduced to "Ghost Shifting".
- Can clear small jumps and roll medium sized tabletops.
- Ride drops or natural features with correct stance.
- Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on a technical Blue trail.
- Confidently demonstrate "rear wheel lifts", "roll ins" and "bunny hops".

- Consistently shifting gears through changing terrain to maintain a proper cadence.
- Consistently "Ghost Shifting" to put less strain on the drivetrain.
- Can clear medium to large sized jumps confidently.
- Ride medium to large sized drops or natural features with correct stance.
- Scan the trail and choose the appropriate line while riding on an advanced Black trail
- Can apply "rear wheel lifts", "roll ins", "bunny hops" and other maneuvers to advanced trails or features.
