Ages 6 - 8

Gear up for a mountain biking adventure with our Gear Gang camps, tailored for ages 6-8 with levels from Beginner (Level 1) to Advanced (Level 5). The adventure unfolds onsite in our Mountain Bike Park and offsite on the neighbouring Paskapoo Slopes. With breaks for water, snacks, and basic bike care, the entire camp is a can't-miss trail exploration, fostering confidence and friendship in a fun learning environment.

Terms of Contract

IMPORTANT – WAIVERS REQUIRED

A Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement(s) ("Waiver(s)") must be completed prior to participation in WinSport’s Programs, Lessons, and Camps and, if applicable, rental of Equipment. If the applicable Waiver(s) are not completed, participation in the WinSport Program and access to WinSport’s facilities will not be permitted, and a refund will be provided.

The Waiver(s) will be available for completion during the sales process, and copies are available for preview below.

PLEASE READ THE WAIVER CAREFULLY! By signing, you will waive or give up certain legal rights, including the right to sue for negligence, breach of contract, or breach of the Occupiers’ Liability Act or claim compensation following an accident.

Gear Gang Camp - Beginner (Level 1)

Explore the basics of mountain biking such as braking, body positioning, and turning to explore  mountain bike trails for the first time. Our instructors will help build riders' confidence to practice new skills on new trails.

Trail Usage

  • Comfortable on flat terrain, and some green trails and features.
  • Progressing to riding Green trails.

Feature Usage

  • Green features - Small:
    • Green berms
    • Roots, rocks, variable trail conditions

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable riding on pavement.
  • Able to maintain balance and use both front and back brakes.
  • Little to no experience on mountain bike terrain.

Level Goals

  • Learn basic skills such as body positioning, gearing, and breaking.
  • Gain confidence stopping, steering, and changing direction.
  • Progress from primarily pavement-based terrain to Green mountain bike trails.

Mandatory Equipment

  • Knee pads 

Chairlift Usage

  • This group may access chairlift terrain by riding uphill, but will not use the chairlift.

Gear Gang Camp - Novice (Level 2)

Progress your basic skills onto initial Blue trails, riding with more fluidity and control. Our instructors will begin introducing more advanced trails and techniques to support learning.

Trail Usage

  • Comfortable on Green trails and features.
  • Progressing to Blue trails and features.

Feature Usage

  • Green features - Small:
    • Jumps
    • Roots, rocks, and variable trail conditions.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable riding on some Green terrain.
  • Confident riding on uneven terrain.
  • Have ridden on trails without making frequent stops.
  • Capable of riding a 5 km cross-country loop, but little to no experience on Blue trails.

Level Goals

  • Continue progressing basic skills on more technical terrain.
  • Improve cornering, body positioning, and steering to ride more fluidly.
  • Progress from Green mountain bike trails to lower-level Blue ones.

  • This group will aim to access the chairlift on the fourth day of the camp.

Gear Gang Camp - Intermediate (Level 3)

Learn the fundamental skills required to take on drops, jumps, and lift-accessible Blue terrain. Our instructors will teach more technical mountain biking to equip riders for more trails with higher levels of difficulty.

Trail Usage

  • Comfortable on all Green and Blue trails and features.
  • Progressing to riding more Blue trails and features.

Feature Usage

  • Blue features - Small:
    • Jumps
    • Steep terrain
    • Roots, rocks, variable trail conditions

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable riding on most Green terrain.
  • Experienced shifting gears, riding both uphill and downhill on rocky, rooted, and bumpy terrain.
  • Capable of riding a 7-9 km cross-country loop, but little to no experience on lift-accessed terrain.

Level Goals

  • Further develop your basic skills to improve your speed on trails.
  • Learn the basics of drops, jumps, and line selection.
  • Expand the number of Green and Blue trails you can comfortably ride.

  • This group will aim to access the chairlift on the third day of the camp.

Gear Gang Camp - Strong Intermediate (Level 4)

Increase your riding speed on technical trails, including an initial Black trail. Instructors will focus on refining participant's skills to ride faster, more fluidly, and with more confidence.

Trail Usage

  • Comfortable on Green and Blue trails and features.
  • Progressing to riding confidently on Blue trails and features.
  • Introduction to Black trails and features.

Feature Usage

  • Blue features - Small/Medium:
    • Jumps
    • Drops
    • Steep terrain
    • Roots, rocks, variable trail conditions

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable riding on Blue trails.
  • Confident riding at faster speeds and maintaining momentum.
  • Moderate experience on lift-accessed terrain and capable of riding a 9-11 km cross-country loop.

Level Goals

  • Develop your skills to experience larger drops, jumps, and more technical trails at a safe speed.
  • Progress your skills, line selection, body positioning, and cornering to access Black terrain.
  • Complete all Blue trails and progress to Black terrain.

Mandatory Equipment

Recommended Equipment

  • Full-face helmet (strongly recommended for Mountain Bike Level 4 and required to access Black trails).
  • Other protection such as a neck brace, body armour, gloves, elbow pads, and long sleeves.
  • Knee pads

  • This group will aim to access the chairlift on the second day of the camp.

Gear Gang Camp - Advanced (Level 5)

Conquer advanced trails including Black features and Black trails with speed and confidence. Instructors will focus on skill proficiency and campers' feedback to progress their riding to allow for bigger jumps, drops, and trail speeds.

Trail Usage

  • Comfortable on Green and Blue trails and features.
  • Progressing to Black trails and features.

Feature Usage

  • Black features - Medium/Large:
    • Jumps
    • Drops
    • Steep terrain
    • Wall Rides
    • Roots, rocks, and variable trail conditions.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable riding on most Blue terrain, working towards riding Black terrain.
  • Confident picking a line and riding difficult technical trail sections, steep terrain, narrow pathways, moderate drops, and 5-7 ft. jumps.
  • Highly experienced on lift-accessed terrain and capable of riding a 12-15 km cross-country loop.

Level Goals

  • Jump higher, drop bigger, ride with greater speed, control and fluidity.
  • Develop strong technique and technical skills to unlock the entire Mountain Bike Park.
  • Ride every trail available, including our most advanced terrain.

Mandatory Equipment

  • Bike with rear suspension and dropper post.
  • Other protection such as a neck brace, body armour, gloves, elbow pads, and long sleeves.
  • Knee pads 

Chairlift Usage

  • This group will aim to access the chairlift on the second day of the camp.
