Learn more about our new Silver carpet and the kick off to winter lessons at WinSport!

Silver Carpets

WinSport's Winter Hill is set to open on Friday, Nov. 24 and we are incredibly excited to welcome you back for what will be an incredible winter season!

For our guests who will be coming to WinSport for winter lessons and programs, we are excited to announce the addition of a new magic carpet in our Beginner area.

This new carpet will be located just to east of our other Silver Carpet and will be named 'Silver 2' with the west silver carpet now being 'Silver 1'.

"Using the carpet rather than a chair lift allows for the participants to focus on gaining the skills and stability associated with the sport," explained Colby Lehman, WinSport's General Manager of East Side Operations. "This will allow our guests to safely transition with confidence and control to the intermediate terrain that is accessible by chairlift."

Lehman says the decision was made to add another carpet to decrease our guests' time in line and increase our uphill capacity and improve the learning experience for skiers and riders of all ages!

Now, when you come for a lesson at WinSport, you can spend more time on snow learning rather than waiting in line for the magic carpets.

"Our new silver carpet doubles our ability to keep participants skiing and boarding in their lessons," said Chris Lane, Senior Manager, Sport. "Additionally, it will assist in moving traffic to the east side of the silver beginner area reducing congestion. This terrain is essential for our Snow School lessons and will provide lessons more time practicing their skills during lessons."

WinSport has a number of lessons and programs kicking off for our opening weekend. On Friday, we will kick off our Private Lessons and Never Ever Lessons which are both curated to helping new and experienced skiers and snowboarders discover and develop their on snow skills!

"We are excited to get back on-snow and teach our community and future generations of skiers and boarders a lifelong passion for winter sport," said Lane. "I’m personally excited we have some warmer conditions to start this season for our new learners! Sometimes the cold can be a barrier especially to those new to the sport, and this weather is ideal for those individuals."

Over the course of the next week, WinSport will then launch a slew of youth lessons and freestyle programs. Beginning on Nov. 27, our preschool snow lessons will be in full swing.

Needless to say, it's going to be a busy time at WinSport this winter and we can't wait to welcome all our guests back for our Winter 2023/24 season.

See you on the hill!
