The monthly event calendars refer to the following venue acronyms:

COP Ski Hill Alpine Venues:

  • ALP – Alpine Race events (note: FIS Alpine and FIS Moguls share the same venue)
  • FS - Freestyle Skiing Aerials and/or Moguls
  • SX/SBX - Ski/Snowboard Cross
  • HP – Halfpipe for Snowboarding or Freestyle Skiing events

WinSport is locking the Park down each evening to increase the safety of our Park and athletes. The program includes the following:
  • The two hill gates, one at the top by the bobsleigh start house and the other adjacent to the miniature golf course, will be closed every day between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
  • The main gate at the entrance to the Park off of the TransCanada Highway will be closed every day between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM.
  • Installation of a gate at the entrance to the ski jump centre. This gate will be locked from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM every day.

Curling tournament held annually between teams from North America against teams from the rest of the world. Each side is represented by six teams (three women's teams and three men's teams)

The Esso Golden Ring is the largest ringette tournament in the world, hosting 2362 players on 175 teams, with a total of 338 games.  Teams range from U7 to U19 age divisions and include three National Ringette League (NRL) teams, including Calgary RATH.

January 18, 2015 - World Snow DayJoin us at WinSport for the 4th annual World Snow Day. This is the first year that WinSport is participating in this global event. You can join the festivities by skiing all day at WinSport for only $19.88.
We will have some fun race courses set up, live radio on-site and the chance to see Alberta’s best freestyle athletes compete in Moguls, Halfpipe and Slopestyle.
Snow is what has defined WinSport and allowed us to become The Winter Sport Institute. We are partnering with the FIS and inviting the community to celebrate and enjoy the snow in the city with the most sunshine-filled winter days in Canada!
  • DAY: January 18
  • TIME: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

WHAT IS WORLD SNOW DAY?  

  • An annual snow festival for children and their families. It includes various activities taking place simultaneously around the world on a single weekend (always the 3rd Sunday in January).
  • It is part of the international FIS Campaign 'Bring Children to the Snow'

WHAT DOES WORLD SNOW DAY MEAN FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES?
A day on snow to:

  • EXPLORE – the chance to discover something new
  • ENJOY – time to have fun in and on the snow
  • EXPERIENCE – a way to generate great memories and the inspiration to continue

WHY HAS WORLD SNOW DAY BEEN ESTABLISHED?

  • To increase youth participation in snow sports
  • To support and encourage involvement in snow sports, together with industry stakeholders
  • To bring newcomers to snow whilst offering extra value to those who already participate

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF WORLD SNOW DAY?

  • Enable children and families to Explore, Enjoy and Experience the fascination of snow sports through special events around the world.
  • To teach children how to preserve the snow for future generations.
  • To teach children how to be safe on and off the snow.
  • To show Children and their families the health benefits of snow sports and physical activity.
