Programs & Services

WinSport works with athletes at every level to unleash athletic potential. Through our focus on Athlete Development we address the building blocks of physical conditioning to help you realize your potential as an athlete and prepare you to perform your best.

All Athlete Development programs provided by WinSport use the established Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework and scientifically-driven performance strategy to guide our programming decisions and training for all athletes on our campus. In the programs offered below, you will note the identified LTAD stages such as Learn to Train/Train to Train/Train to Compete, and these designations mean our coaches provide the right training for each athlete based on age and stage of growth and development.

Athlete Development Registered Training Programs

Athlete Development Training Program (Train to Train +: 13-17 Years)

Program Description

Athletes will be given an on-going customized Strength and Conditioning program and allowed to train in our facility under the supervision of the Strength and Conditioning coach.

Tier 1
  • Tier 1 is a customized training program that includes three 1 hour orientation sessions with their assigned coach. This tier is for young athletes new to resistance training who require more individual support with a coach to be prepared to train independently.

Tier 2

  • Tier 2 is a customized training program that includes one 1 hour orientation session with their assigned coach. This tier is for young athletes who have experience with resistance training and require less individual support with a coach to be prepared to train independently.

Who is this program for?

This program is designed for youth athletes in any sport discipline who are looking to take their training to the next level.

Program outcome

Programs will be designed to optimize key components of sport-specific fitness (e.g. hockey, football, rugby, sliding sports, etc.) to help athletes achieve peak performances for pre-season evaluations and in-season play.

What's included

  • Initial consultation/pre-screening with a Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Assigned coaches make the decision as to which tier the athlete is assigned to. Athletes on Tier 1 may move to a Tier 2 program once the coach feels they are ready.
  • Access to the Performance Training Centre to complete the program in a supervised training group environment:
    • Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • On-going support with the assigned Strength & Conditioning Coach via our Team Buildr App
  • Under Armour training shirt

Sport Specific Training Programs

In-Season Ringette - U16 & 14 Athlete Development Training Program (Traim to Train +)

Program description

Athletes will receive an on-going customized Strength and Conditioning program focused on off-ice recovery, strength maintenance and game-day activation to achieve sustainable peak performances throughout the ringette season. Athletes will train in the Performance Training Centre under the supervision of a Strength and Conditioning coach.

Who is this program for?

This program is designed for U14 & U16 ages ringette players.

Program outcome

  • Free, no obligation initial consultation & pre-screening with a Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • In-Season ringette specific dryland training program(s) which will adapt to the athlete’s competition schedule
  • Access to the Performance Training Centre, Monday to Thursday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm to complete the program in a supervised training group environment
  • On-going support with the assigned Strength & Conditioning Coach via our Team Buildr App

Length of program

This program will be offered from September 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.

Coaching Services - Customized, Strength & Conditioning

Individual

Training sessions at WinSport with a Strength and Conditioning Coach who will periodize your program according to your YTP to address your in-season/off-season sport-specific training and competition needs.

Fascial Mobility Therapy - FMT

30 minute session

On the table Stretch and Mobility Therapy provided by a certified instructor focusing on relieving tight musculature and increasing range of motion in the joints. The goal is to promote pain free range of motion in the hips, lower back, and shoulders by stretching the joint and surrounding capsule through a series of therapeutic mobilization techniques.

Single Session - $55

10 Pack - $500 ($50/session)

A session will include an assessment, table stretch/mobility, and muscle isometrics/activation to create lasting effects.

Same as individual training, but with 2-6 athletes.

Written Program Package:

For athletes or teams requiring programming guidance, allowing them to train on their own. Receive 6 weeks programming (5 days/week) to address all fitness components relevant to the training cycle goals, and a 1:1 training program orientation with a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Pair this service with memberships to one of our training facilities.

Performance Road - Mapping

Our performance road mapping services:

Our consultative services include, but are not limited to:
  • Sport KPI (key performance indicator) evaluations and strategy planning for sport coaches and athletes.
  • Yearly training plan (YTP) evaluations, planning and development for sport coaches and athletes.
  • Integrated support team service recommendations and referrals, where applicable (e.g. sport medicine, sport nutrition, sport psychology).
  • Educational sessions, seminars etc. for your key stakeholders (e.g. parents, coaches and athletes).

Camps


NEW  Athlete Development Camp

Ages 8-13

Our Athlete Development Camp is for youth who are involved in sports and athletics throughout the year. Led by experienced coaches from WinSport's Performance Training Centre (PTC), this weeklong camp will allow your child to enhance their athletic abilities by improving on fundamental movement skills (agility, balance, coordination, jumping and running) and safely introduce them to our world-class training facility. 

Throughout the week, athlete-campers will participate in friendly competitions, workouts focused on body weight and resistance training, and finish each day by playing different sports activities to increase their overall fitness and athleticism. In addition, your child will be exposed to classroom sessions on nutrition and goal setting and how they relate to athletic performance. Give your child the positive sports experience they deserve this summer!

Sport Performance Camp

Sport Performance Camp - Ages 13-14 & 15-17

Under the guidance of our elite level Strength and Conditioning team, participants will learn about what it takes to become a top performing athlete. Each day your young athlete will spend time working in our world class Performance Training Centre (PTC) with our strength and conditioning coaches learning about the importance of proper strength, power and movement training plans required to enhance their performance within their sport. Additional classroom-based sessions on mental performance and nutrition will also be included. The goal over this 2-day training camp is to educate and empower young competitors with the necessary skills and know-how to build their athletic tool kit for the upcoming season.

Outcomes

Athletes will learn:

  • Fundamental Movement Patterns (sprint, jump & lifting mechanics)
  • Flexibility (gain understanding on when & how to use dynamic vs. static stretching)
  • Mobility & Stability (importance of range of motion and joint stability)
  • Recovery Protocol (importance of sleep, what an optimal training schedule looks like)
  • Mental Performance & Goal Setting Workshop (visualization, problem solving, and SMART goal setting)
  • Nutrition Workshop (hydration, when and what to eat for pre & post exercise/competition)
  • Injury Prevention
