Ski/Snowboard lessons Know Before You Go

When and Where to Arrive
There’s nothing worse than having to rush to a ski lesson and then not know where to register and get fitted for your equipment. So, we’ve created some tips below that will get you to the right place at the right time - stress-free.

Please arrive to the Frank King Day Lodge (see Snow School Meeting Spot Map). If you’re renting equipment, please arrive 1 hour prior to your lesson time and bring your completed rental waiver. Please be prepared to indicate your weight, height and shoe size so our team can fit you with the appropriate equipment. If you’re bringing your own equipment, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your lesson time. Parking is free, however, on weekends and holidays we suggest allowing for extra time since you may be parked at a further lot and shuttled to the Frank King Day Lodge. We recommend that participants use the washroom prior to the start of your lesson to maximize your time on snow.

Click here to view map »

On-hill lesson procedures
To ensure everybody on the hill is able to ski and snowboard in a fun and safe manner, there are some guidelines we ask all of our visitors to follow. Due to limited space and for the safety of your child, we ask that parents please respect the parent-free zones. Parents can buy a 3-hour lift ticket at Guest Services in the Frank King Day Lodge to ski or ride while your child is in their lesson.

Helmets specifically designed for alpine sports are mandatory for all lesson and program participants and terrain park users including adults. Helmets are available to rent or purchase on site.

FAQs
What is the plunge?
The plunge is an 810-foot water slide that is located at the Husky Gardens on the west side of Canada Olympic Park’s campus. It has three lanes where participants slide down on inflatable tubes.

When does the Plunge operate?
The plunge is a summer feature at WinSport and will operate on weekends and holidays from July 1 to August 27. The Plunge will only be open if it is warm and sunny. Please check the Hill Report on our website to ensure the Plunge is operating.

When will you decide to operate?
Our team will review the forecast mid-week and make the determination if we are a going to open the Plunge or keep it closed.
Please check here for the latest details »

Weather permitting, the Plunge will be open from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on weekends throughout July-August.

How much does it cost?
Last year when we introduced the Plunge we sold access by slides. After engaging with some guests, they preferred we move to a model like our Winter Acura Tube Park. We will be offering two-hour slide tickets and a last-hour ticket.

You will save money if you purchase your tickets online in advance. Please see our ticket pricing below.

Prices do not include GST
Online Walk-up
Two-hour (all ages) $24.99
$28.99
Last-hour (all ages) $13.99
$15.99

Will there be long lines?

After talking to our guests, we learned that waiting in long lines was not fun. To remedy this, we have moved to two-hour blocks. This will allow you to slide as many times as possible in two hours. We have capped our capacity and want to ensure that you have an enjoyable time on the Plunge.

Our team will continue to monitor the lines and number of slides throughout the season making any necessary adjustments.
To see the dates and sliding windows click on the button.

I came last year and did not have fun. Why should I come back?
We have taken valuable feedback from our guests and have made improvements to enhance the experience of the Plunge. To better manage the lines, we have moved to two-hour sliding windows with a fixed capacity. This year, we have added washroom facilities and cold refreshments and snacks, which are available for purchase at the check-in desk.

Our team has worked hard to make sure we are doing the right things to make this experience far more enjoyable.
Where do I buy tickets?
You can buy tickets online or in-person at the check-in desk at the top of the plunge inside the bobsleigh track.

Please note that you save money by buying tickets in advance online.

Where do I park?
The best place to park for the Plunge is in the Frank King Day Lodge.
Click to view map for more details »

What happens if I buy in advance and my day is cancelled due to bad weather?

Our team will work with you to book you in on another day.
If we are required to cancel and we cannot re-book, a credit will be provided.

Where can I change?
We recommend if you need to change that you use the large washrooms on the first floor of the Frank King Day Lodge. These have enough room to allow you to change comfortably and are conveniently located close to The Plunge.

What else can I do on campus?
Buy your tickets to slide and participate in one of the following activities before or after (for an additional fee):
