At WinSport, we celebrate girls in sport, cultivate interest and develop opportunities for young female athletes to try new sports. We offer a variety of
sport programs in different disciplines, offered throughout the year. We create an environment where girls can pursue their athletic objectives, develop confidence, and feel empowered to succeed at sport and life all while spending time with a group of like-minded girls.
Girls Only - Discover Hockey

Girls rule and we know it! This program is a replica of our Discover Hockey program, but this one is just for girls.

  • Ages: 9-10
  • Price: $369
  • Program Duration: 12 sessions
  • Session Length: 1 hour

They shoot, they score! This is an ideal program for children who can skate and want to give hockey a shot.

Our Hockey Canada-certified coaches provide a caring, safe and encouraging learning environment for both the first-time player and those who may have 1 – 2 years playing experience.

Participants will work with our coaches on developing and improving their on-ice fundamental skills including skating, puck control, passing, receiving and shooting through exciting drills and games.

We also include two game days – one midway through the program and one on the last day for players to showcase what they’ve learned to family and friends!

Key Goals
  • Improve basic skills: passing, shooting & skating
Prerequisites
  • New to the game or have minimal playing experience
  • Must be able to stand up and move forwards on skates

Girls Only - Hockey Skill Development

Girls rule and we know it! This program is a replica of our Hockey Development program, but this one is just for girls.

This program gives kids a little extra ice time to work on their skills during the hockey season.  It is also a great program for graduates of our Discover Hockey program, once the coaches suggest they are ready for the next step.

Our Hockey Canada-certified coaches will help to improve players’ on-ice fundamental skills, focusing on proper skating mechanics and puck skills (passing, shooting, puck control and possession), as well as introducing them to team tactics.  

We also include two game days – one midway through the program and one on the last day for players to showcase their skills to family and friends!

NEW! Freeski REC Level 7/8 - Girls Only

Ages 8-10 & 11-15

The Freeski REC- Girls Only Program is designed to develop young skiers in the exciting and expressive sport of freestyle skiing. This girls only option covers the same skills and as our co-ed REC (7/8), but girls spend their season with like-minded athletes and leave feeling confident and empowered. Girls will be expected to proficiently ski alpine terrain with an athletic body position and correct ski line. Once this is established, participants will learn essential tools to jump correctly, ride a rail, spin off jumps, and show control on all terrain a skier might face. Participants will continue to spend time developing the technical skiing skills required to perform freestyle, including position and balance, edge control and timing and coordination. The Freeski REC- Girls Only Program is aligned with the CFSA curriculum and is designed to be fun and progressive in a non-competitive environment. Its development is in alignment with our competitive stream should any participants wish to move in that direction.

Prerequisites
  • Completed WinSport All Mountain Level 6 or equivalent
  • Able to parallel ski all terrain at WinSport
  • Link at least 5 switch turns
  • Comfortable hitting small to medium jumps
  • Demonstrates some basic grabs
  • Demonstrates 180 spin on small jumps
  • Comfortably ski blue terrain at mountain resorts
Key Goals
  • Establish proper body position through takeoff and landing
  • Complete various turns in moguls, halfpipe, and slopestyle course
  • Become comfortable with all types of freestyle terrain
  • Comfortably ski super pipe
  • Introduction to spinning beyond 180
  • Introduction to beginner moguls run
  • 360s both ways on medium jumps
  • Ski a beginner mogul run top to bottom with tricks
  • Spinning off of rails
  • Air out of super pipe
  • Develop technical skiing to further freestyle skills

Freeski Development Team Level 7/8 - Girls Only

Ages 8-12

The Freeski Development Team- Girls Only team covers the same skills and competitions as our co-ed teams (7/8), but girls spend their season with like-minded athletes and leave feeling confident and empowered. This team will follow the development of the Freestylerz program laid out by the CFSA (Canadian Freestyle Ski Association). Athletes will be expected to proficiently ski alpine terrain with an athletic body position and correct ski line. Once this is established, athletes will further develop how to jump correctly, ride a rail, spin off jumps, and show control on all terrain a skier might face. Athletes will continue their progression and learn how to use the advanced features in the terrain park while still building overall athletic skills. Key factors of this program are the development of athleticism, mental preparedness, and introduction to competition.

Prerequisites
  • Completed WinSport All Mountain Level 6 or equivalent
  • Able to parallel ski all terrain at WinSport COP
  • Link at least 5 switch turns
  • Able to hit all medium size jumps in west terrain park
  • Demonstrates 180 both directions on small to medium jumps
  • Able to sideways slide boxes in both directions
  • Demonstrates 360 in mini pipe
Key Goals
  • Establish proper body position though takeoff and landing.
  • Complete various turns in moguls, halfpipe, and slope style course.
  • Become comfortable with all types of freestyle terrain.
  • Air out of super pipe
  • 360 on medium jumps in west terrain park
  • Ski beginner moguls run with two different tricks
  • Slide both rails and boxes consistently

Once this is established, participants will learn essential tools to jump correctly, ride a rail, spin off jumps, and show control on all terrain a snowboarder might face. Participants will continue to spend time developing the technical skiing skills required to perform freestyle, including position and balance, edge control and timing and coordination. The Snowboard REC- Girls Only program is aligned with Canada Snowboard curriculum and is designed to be fun and progressive in a non-competitive environment. Its development is in alignment with our competitive stream should any participants wish to move in that direction.

Snowboard Development Team Level 7/8 - Girls Only

Ages 8-12

The Snowboard Development Team Girls Only team covers the same skills and competitions as our co-ed teams (7/8), but girls spend their season with like-minded athletes and leave feeling confident and empowered. This team will follow the development of the Riders program laid out by Canada Snowboard. Athletes will be expected to proficiently ride alpine terrain with an athletic body position and correct board control. Once this is established, athletes will learn how to jump correctly, ride a rail, spin off jumps, and show control on all terrain. Athletes will continue their progression and learn how to use the advanced features in the terrain park while still building overall athletic skills. Key factors of this program are the development of athleticism, mental preparedness, and introduction to competition.

Prerequisites
  • Able to ride all terrain at WinSport
  • Link at least 5 switch turns
  • Able to hit all medium-sized jumps in west terrain park
  • 180 both directions on small to medium jumps
  • Able to sideways slide boxes in both directions
  • 360 in mini pipe
Key Goals
  • Establish proper body position though takeoff and landing
  • Complete various turns on the mountain, halfpipe, and slope style course
  • Become comfortable with all types of freestyle terrain
  • Air out of super pipe
  • Develop technical riding
  • 360 medium jumps in west terrain park
  • Complete beginner Slopestyle runs
  • Slide both rails and boxes consistently
  • 1 way 270 off rail
  • 2 ways 360 on mediums
