Then our Academy Development Teams are the place for you! Our teams strive to develop and refine your skills in a progressive, fun, and safe environment. These teams include mountain days, dryland training, strength and conditioning training, competitions, and tons of shredding with a team of like-minded athletes! Academy Snowboard Development Team - Level 7

Our Snowboard Dev 7 team provides advanced young riders with a competitive and fun freestyle training environment to thrive in.

Athletes in this program will build their bag of tricks and refine skills on jumps, boxes, rails, and trampoline. They will hone their fundamental snowboarding skills on groomed and varied terrain to complement their freestyle riding and become stronger all-around athletes. Key factors of this program are the development of athleticism, mental preparedness, and introduction to competition. This program aligns with the Canada Snowboard curriculum and is designed to be the first step in a competitive snowboarder's growth. Athletes are in the “Learn to Train” phase of their long-term athletic development.

Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Mandatory ASA General Membership.
WinSport Season's Pass, coach expenses for inter-club competition (including travel, hill pass, mileage, food split between all attending athletes. This will be billed separately by WinSport).

Participation in WinSport’s snow school program (the “Program”) is subject to completion of WinSport’s Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks, and Indemnity Agreements (the “Waivers”) by the participant or their parent/legal guardian prior to the first day of the Program. This will include a Waiver for the Program and a Waiver for COVID-19. In the event the Waivers are not completed, participation in the Program shall not be permitted and a refund will be provided. The Waivers will be provided for review and signature prior to the start of the Program, and can also be found on our website for immediate review.

Key Goals
Riding skills:
Confidently ride regular and switch on intermediate terrain demonstrating proper body position and control.
Jumps:
Demonstrate proper body position through takeoff and landing, perform 3 basic grabs, introduced to spinning in all directions, perform a frontside and backside 360.
Rails:
Comfortably 5050 & boardslide rails.
Can hit a rail switch
Can spin frontside and backside 180 off a rail
Halfpipe:
Maintain a strong body position and choose the appropriate line
Trampoline:
 Perform basic bed trick, spins, and progressions for inverts.

Pre-requisites
Riding skills:
Can ride all-terrain at WinSport confidently.
Ride switch on beginner terrain.
Jumps:
 Able to hit all medium-sized jumps in the west terrain park.
 Frontside and backside 180 on small to medium jumps.
Rails:
Can 5050 or boardslide a box confidently.
Halfpipe:
Can 360 in the Superpipe.

Our coaches show the athletes how to ride larger features in the terrain park and perform advanced maneuvers. Stronger development of athleticism and mental preparedness at this level will prepare athletes to move forward in their snowboarding career.

Athletes are in the “Learn to Train” phase of their long-term athletic development.

Academy Snowboard Development Team - Level 9
Park and Pipe

This program is the steppingstone to our High-Performance teams and requires a major commitment from the athletes. Performing multiple flips and rotations in all directions and refining advanced skills on large features are the key focus of this program. Athletes will learn and apply these skills in the halfpipe as they compete against other high-level contenders. All athletes will be expected to maintain a high standard of athleticism, nutrition, maturity, and focus.

This program moves athletes from the “Learn to Train” phase of their long-term athletic development to the “Train to Compete” phase. All dates are a requirement of the program (two days dryland, three days on snow).

Demonstrate proficient technical riding ability on groomers and varied terrain.
Confidently ride switch on advanced terrain demonstrating proper edge control.
Jumps:
All ways 540’s with grabs.
Can perform two rotating flips on large size jumps (cork, rodeo, misty, etc.).
Rails:
Spinning on and off kinked, curved, and large down rails in Terrain Park in both directions.
Halfpipe:
Ski full halfpipe runs with spins or flips on every hit.
Trampoline:
Demonstrate refined air awareness and a proficient base of fundamental acrobatic skills.
Perform a variety of inverted and off-axis tricks.
Perform two doubles.

Pre-requisites
Athletes must be able to properly prepare for upcoming events and show a focussed training mindset*.
Riding skills:
Develop and refine advanced technical riding on groomers and varied terrain.
Confidently ride switch on intermediate/advanced terrain demonstrating proper edge control.
Jumps:
Link combinations of forward and switch tricks spinning in all directions.
Can comfortably spin 360 all four ways with a grab.
Able to spin 540 in three different directions with grabs.
Perform left and right 360’s on large jumps.
Begin learning inverted maneuvers on an airbag.
Rails:
Can confidently hit an intermediate rail switch.
Spin-on and off rails confidently in all directions.
Halfpipe:
Able to generate speed through edge & pressure control while choosing the appropriate line.
Able to link combinations of forward and switch tricks spinning in all directions.
Trampoline:
Demonstrate controlled air awareness and a strong base of fundamental acrobatic skills.
Perform a variety of inverted and off-axis tricks.
