Frequently asked questions

Why is WinSport closing?

The health, safety and well-being of WinSport’s Team Members, guests and the community remain the top priorities for WinSport. In light of ongoing developments resulting from COVID-19, effective March 16 at noon, WinSport suspended all of its operations of the ski and snowboard hill and the Markin MacPhail Centre, including the Performance Training Centre and the arenas, until further notice.

As a source of information on COVID-19, please refer to Alberta Health Services or Government of Alberta website. At WinSport, our Mission is to provide opportunities for Canadians to discover, develop and excel at sport through world-class training, facilities and exceptional experiences. We will continue to provide a safe and welcoming environment as we continue to fulfill our mission during this time.

What about other programs in which we were registered?

At this point, WinSport will make the call on a two week basis going forward. You do not need to call to receive a credit for any WinSport directed cancellations. Credits for the cancelled program dates will automatically be applied to the purchaser’s WinSport account to use towards future programs/purchases at WinSport.

Our team at WinSport is working hard to fully understand the rules and regulations being set out by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health officials as they pertain to camps.

We recognize the first week of camps is scheduled for just six weeks away as some families are trying to determine their summer plans, despite the uncertain times.

Making the difficult decision whether we can run camps, and to what extent, within the framework provided, will be based on three guiding principles – the health and safety of our team and camp participants, the long-term wellbeing and sustainability of our organization, and alignment with our mission, vision and purpose.

The reality is that if we do offer camps, they will look very different than in year’s past, from the scope, variety and how they are delivered. We want to ensure that we are making responsible decisions, while ensuring we can deliver the quality of camps that Calgarians have come to expect from WinSport.

Once the decision has been made, we will communicate the decision on our website and via social media.

We thank you for your support and patience.

How does the closure impact my WinSport Performance Training Centre membership or services?

WinSport will put a freeze on all memberships and services until we resume operations. We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and extend the freeze period as necessary. We are also currently looking into options to provide home training and workout programs for our members, clients and athletes and further information will be made available shortly for those.

How do I follow up if I have additional questions?
