WinSport’s mountain biking lessons and camps introduce participants to all aspects of mountain biking. From cross-country single track riding, to chairlift accessible downhill terrain, to the newest addition – enduro riding! They’ll learn the sport in a fun and interactive environment with like-minded bikers.

Mountain Bike Camp Ages 4 - 5 - Half Day Camps Only
Level 1
This program is geared for preschoolers who are almost ready to take off their training wheels, but need a bit more practice and instruction. Our instructors will help your child develop a range of skills in a safe, fun, outdoor learning environment.

Key Goals

Prerequisites
  • Some experience riding a bike with training wheels or a push-bike
  • Comfortable in a group environment
  • Able to bike around the beginner area for three hours with minimal breaks

Level 2
This program is for preschoolers who can ride on the pavement and are ready to learn how to bike on uneven terrain such as grass and dirt.

Key Goals
  • Improve overall biking skills
  • Learn to bike on uneven terrain
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 1 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Comfortable in a group environment
  • Able to bike in the beginner area for three hours with minimal breaks
  • Can perform controlled stops using brakes

Level 3
This program is designed to improve your preschoolers overall biking skills and increase their confidence.

Key Goals
  • Improve overall biking skills and build confidence
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 2 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Able to ride on two wheels both seated and standing
  • Comfortable in a group environment
  • Able to bike around beginner area for three hours with minimal breaks
  • Experience riding on both pavement and grass and / or dirt
  • Some experience riding up and down small hills

Mountain Bike Camp Ages 6 - 8
Level 1
This program is a fun introduction to all aspects of cycling. Children practice in a progressive learners area where they explore and learn with a friendly  group of like-minded kids.

Key Goals
  • General introduction to biking
  • Learn correct body position and braking technique to improve control while riding

Level 2
This program is for kids who are comfortable riding on pavement and roads and are now looking to be challenged on grass and dirt! Kids will be introduced to all aspects of mountain biking including cross-country, enduro and downhill.

Key Goals
  • Begin learning to ride on grass and dirt
  • Understand how to change gears
  • Introduction to cross-country, enduro and downhill mountain biking
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 1 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Comfortable riding on pavement and roads
  • Able to ride straight down a gentle hill while controlling speed with hand brakes

This program is for kids who are able to control their speed and are ready for a new challenge on green terrain.

Key Goals
  • Continue developing skills in cross country, enduro and downhill mountain biking
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 2 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Comfortable riding in gentle, off-road conditions
  • Able to handle small obstacles such as rocks, roots and bridges
  • Able to fully control speed

This program is for kids ready to develop a more aggressive riding technique on blue terrain.

Key Goals
  • Develop aggressive riding technique
  • Develop skill-based manoeuvres including front/rear wheel lifts, bunny hops, drops and jumps
  • Continue developing skills in cross-country, enduro and downhill mountain biking
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 3 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Confident riding on challenging off-road terrain at higher speeds
  • Able to remain in full control of speed
  • Open to new challenges on blue terrain

Our level 5 program is only available to teens aged 10 - 14 who have extensive biking experience and are looking for new challenges on blue / black terrain.

Key Goals
  • Develop expert riding technique including pressure control, line selection, timing and coordination
  • Continue developing skills in cross-country, enduro and downhill mountain biking skills
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 4 and / or is capable of the following:
  • Regularly rides downhill or cross country trails
  • Able to ride with speed, rhythm and control on blue / black terrain
  • Able to maintain full control of speed
