First Time Ages 3 - 5

Level 1
Through the use of skiing games we strive to build fundamental ski movements that can be leveraged in future lessons and programs. Before moving to the next level, it is important that all participants show competency in the key goal areas.
Key Goals
  • Walk on skis
  • Slide straight down a beginner hill
  • Attempt to make a snow plow (pizza shape) with skis

Prerequisites
  • No previous skiing experience required
  • Able to:
    • Remain active for 90 minutes
    • Function in a group learning setting without parents

Parent & Tot
Learn something new together in a fun, social atmosphere in a small group setting that allows for lots of individual attention. Children develop their skiing through skill-based games while parents learn tips from instructors on how to continue fostering their child ski development.

  • Build comfort and confidence on the snow

Prerequisites
  • Parents must be able to ski at an intermediate level and bring their own equipment (including a CSA approved helmet)
  • No previous skiing experience required for preschooler

Level 1
Skiing related games are used to provide a fun and active introduction to skiing with the hope of building a lifelong love of the sport. Level 1 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation for a long skiing future.

Discover Ski
Discover a new passion for skiing in a fun and safe learning environment. Tailored to suit the learning style and abilities of each group, basic skills are learned and practiced through ski-related games in the beginner area. This single 90-minute lesson includes lift ticket and rentals.

  • Come to a stop using a snow plow (pizza shape)
  • May progress to turning, as skill level allows

Prerequisites
  • No previous skiing experience required
  • Able to:
    • Be active on skis for 90 minutes

Designed for a more mature group looking to discover the basics of skiing, this program covers the fundamentals but with slightly more technical insight into skiing progression and a slightly quicker pace than our youth program. This single 90-minute lesson includes lift ticket and rentals.

  • Introduce turning by end of session

Ski In 3
Whether you’ve never been on skis before or you already have some experience but would like a refresher, this extremely popular program is a great way to learn the basics of skiing in a fun and safe environment with an experienced instructor. These are a group of 3 lessons that are built to progress your skills.These 3 lessons include lift ticket and rentals.
Key Goals
  • Comfortably ride from the top of the hill to the bottom by the end of day 3. Chairlift may be used, depending on the group

Learn To Ski Ages 3 - 5

Level 2
Skiing-related games are used to help participants who have limited experience on skis, but are ready to take the next step towards independent skiing and want to continue developing key skills. Before moving to the next level, it is important that all participants show competency in the key goal areas.
Key Goals
  • Make a complete stop while facing straight down a gentle hill
  • Make small turns around obstacles
  • Ski unassisted from the top of the Gold carpet

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 1 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 1
  • Able to:
    • Walk independently on skis
    • Ski comfortably straight down a gentle slope
    • Attempt a snow plow (pizza shape) with skis

Level 3
Fundamental skill development continues for those skiers who are able to ski with control on green terrain and are ready to be pushed to the next level. This may include building to higher speeds and progressing onto the chairlift, as group ability allows.
Key Goals
  • Feel comfortable skiing on the gold and Progression carpets
  • Ready to attempt the chairlift with instructor assistance

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 2 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 2
  • Able to:
    • Complete turns of varying size on green terrain
    • Control speed at all times
    • Get up on their own after falling over

Level 4
Skills progression continues as participants who are ready to move from warm-ups and drills on the Gold and Progression carpet to the chairlift for experience skiing at higher speeds and on a variety of terrain such as rollers, bumps, berms and off-camber terrain.
Key Goals
  • Control speed on a wide range of terrain
  • Build comfort at higher speeds and on variable terrain
  • Ski completely unassisted from top to bottom

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 3 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 3
  • Experience skiing on runs from the top of the chairlift
  • Able to:
    • Make turns of varying size to control speed, without instructor assistance

Learn To Ski Ages 6 - 12
Level 2
This is a great program for children who are ready to start skiing a little bit faster and try some new terrain. Level 2 may be repeated multiple times to help build a solid foundation for a long skiing future. Developing balance is key, so any additional time spent on skis – before and after programs – will speed up the learning process.

  • Comfortably link turns around obstacles
  • Varying the size and speed of turns
  • Developing balance while on skis

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 1 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 1

Level 3
Level 3 is a fast moving group for children ready to start skiing faster on steeper terrain, while trying to keep skis parallel as much as possible. This course progresses from beginner to intermediate terrain with the opportunity for features such as small jumps, rollers, bumps and the 12-foot halfpipe to be introduced.
Key Goals
  • Comfortably ski from top to bottom while carrying out various skill drills, such as skiing on one ski
  • Skiing with parallel skis

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 2 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 2
  • Able to:
    • Control speed and direction on green terrain
    • Start using the chairlift

Level 4
This program focuses on furthering the technique of strong skiers who are ready to ski hard and fast on a variety of terrain. The goal is to develop strong, well-rounded skiers who feel comfortable attempting any sort of terrain. Features such as small jumps, rollers, bumps, and the 12-foot halfpipe may also be introduced.
Key Goals
  • Introduce refined edge control and carving
  • Instil skills and confidence to attempt any terrain

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 3 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 3
  • Able to:
    • Ski with parallel skis on most terrain
    • Vary turn shape on steeper terrain
    • Confidently try new and challenging terrain

  • Successfully completed Level 2 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 2
  • Able to:
    • Comfortably link turns
    • Ride the chairlift
    • Control speed and turn shape

Once you’re comfortable skiing at high speeds, this program will help you refine some of the more advanced aspects of skiing. Features such as small jumps, bumps, and rollers may also be introduced at this level, depending on the interests of the group.

  • Refine existing carving technique
  • Learn how to tackle variable terrain at higher speeds

Prerequisites
  • Successfully completed Level 3 or have the ability to complete all key goals outlined in Level 3
    Previous introduction to carving
  • Able to:
    • Ski with parallel skis on green/blue terrain
    • Comfortably ski at higher speeds
