What is a unique element to WinSport?
“I would have to say the people. Everyone is easy going and likes to have fun. It creates a great atmosphere for employees and customers.”

What does WinSport mean to you?
“To me, WinSport is all about supporting the athletes. We’re here to assist athletes in any way possible so they can discover and excel at their sport.”

What do you look for in a job applicant?
“I’m looking for someone who works hard, willing to learn and wants to have a good time. Those are the three traits that make a productive and satisfied employee.”

Ian Newcombe

Ian Newcombe
Supervisor, Ski Jump Maintenance

Were you born a supervisor or did you have to earn the title?
“I actually started out as a lifty, helping people on and off the lifts. Since then, I’ve worked my way up to supervisor. I’m proof that there’s a lot of room to grow within the company.”

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
