Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, instruct and coach a group of athletes in a safe, athlete centered learning environment
  • Provide professional, world class, technical knowledge in freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and alpine skiing
  • Provide duty of care at the most professional standard outlined by WinSport
  • Understand the LTAD and Sport for Life sport development models and how it applies to the group you are coaching
  • Evaluate your athletes and administer a season plan of training appropriate to their stage of development

Accounting Clerk - Cash Office (weekend)

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for the efficient operation of the Cash Office and assisting members of the accounting department through the performance of various duties.

Responsibilities:

• Collects daily cash envelopes from all departments generating revenues through the sale of services and/or merchandise
• Ensures all daily cash revenues are counted and reconciled in an accurate, timely and efficient manner. This also includes the preparation of the Daily Revenue Sheet for distribution.
• Prepares bank deposits for pick-up and order change from the Royal Bank main branch when required
• Ensures all departments have adequate change for their efficient operation
• Prepares cash floats for various departments and special events as required and ensure that floats are returned to the cash office accurately and promptly
• Trains staff about proper cash-out procedures
• Reconciles outstanding credit card balances monthly
• Administers petty cash, distributing payments and reconciling totals
• Inputs and checks Accounts Payable invoice batches
• Performs other related duties, which may be required from time to time

Qualifications:

• Post-Secondary Education; He/she will have an undergraduate degree in a related discipline
• The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have the ability to multi-task
• Proven ability in a computerized accounting environment
• Great Plains Software experience would be an asset
• Extensive computer knowledge and typing skills in Excel, Word and Access
• One to two years book keeping experience, would be an asset
• Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate with different levels of the organization
• Must be bondable

Banquet Chef

The Banquet Cook must be able to work independently, often without supervision in the kitchen and banquet facilities, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef
  • Carries out assigned daily food preparation as scheduled
  • Supervises, when necessary, other assigned kitchen staff
  • Assists with all facets of planning, organizing, conducting and controlling the preparation and cooking of food for all events at Canada Olympic Park
  • Ensures that all foods are presented in a standardized and acceptable form
  • Ensure that all areas are kept clean and secure where applicable
  • Ensures that all equipment is in good working order and maintained in a clean manner

You have pride in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment when working in the kitchen and follow instructions closely when preparing food and accomplishing tasks during a shift. As a Dishwasher Preparation Cook, you will be reporting to the Sous Chef within the division of Operations-Food & Beverage.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the dishwasher

Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician works to ensure all buildings on site at Canada Olympic Park are in good condition and repairs are dealt with in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely inspecting interior and exterior spaces and equipment on site at Canada Olympic Park. Monitor performance of heating, electrical, mechanical and trouble-shoot problems
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and buildings to supervisor
  • Assist and perform routine repairs on all heating, cooling and ventilation systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems and appliances
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance on buildings
  • Complete small renovations, drywall repairs and painting
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance jobs and repairs
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers and WinSport guests

You bring a high level of customer service as a Food & Beverage Attendant, and you're determined to build rapport with customers of all ages that you greet on a daily basis.

As the Food Court Attendant, you will be reporting to Supervisor, Food & Beverage (Food Court) while preparing and serving food for WinSport retail food outlets according to standardized procedures.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Open and close the outlet according to standard procedures
  • Prepare food, clean utensils and equipment and report equipment malfunctions
  • Provide a high level of customer service to guests and WinSport.
  • Conducting cash transactions with accuracy and efficiency.

You strongly believe in providing a positive and enjoyable learning experience and demonstrate skills in leadership, time management, communication, on-ice technical skills and problem solving.

As a Skating Instructor for WinSport, you will be reporting to the Program Manager, Active Lives, and tailoring your instructing style to all participants of the WinSport Canada Skate & Hockey School. You will be instructing and leading skating for children ranging in age from 3-16 years old, and your instruction is nothing short of professional, safe, friendly, approachable and team-oriented.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Showcase your leadership skills; Provide group supervision and management
  • Demonstrate skill with structure; Instruct in accordance with the WinSport Skating & Hockey School Procedure Manual and adhere to duty of care policies
  • Maintain class progress cards while encouraging the athletes to take the next step of lesson development

Qualifications/Skills-You will have:

  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification (mandatory)
  • Current NCCP Certification with Skate Canada or Hockey Canada would be considered an asset
  • A passion for sport, in particular ice sports

Instructor, Snow School Programs - Active

Scope of Position

To provide safe and effective instruction in WinSport Ski/Snowboard School programs and lessons to school groups, brochure programs for students of all ages. Provide Exceptional guest experience both on and off the hill.

Wages

Level 3 $18.00

Responsibilities

  • All duties are performed in accordance with the Ski/Snowboard School Procedure Manual. 
  • Provide quality instruction to all ages and ability level of the students assigned to them.
  • Presenting themselves as a representative of WinSport, Canada Olympic Park and the Ski/Snowboard School by acting in a professional, courteous manner. 
  • Carry out non-teaching duties listed as follows: hill set-up, rental shop assistance, hill take-down meet buses, organize school buses, organize school groups on arrival and check-in, etc., as assigned on main schedule.
  • Assisting in the processing of programs, day camps and school groups before the actual lesson takes place. 
  • Accurately record the student's progression throughout each lesson on the student's progression card.
  • Encouraging return visits and attendance to lessons from students by promoting the skill progression.
  • Delivering clear and concise lesson details and information.
  • Maintain accurate class cards including both the students first and last name, any transfers of a student to another instructor and current ability level. Class cards must be returned to the Team Leads after the lesson.
  • Record each child's secure pick up code on the class card to ensure the safety of the child.
  • Assure the Alpine Responsibility Code is covered in ALL classes taught and that this is documented on ALL class cards prior to the end of each class.
  • Responsible for dropping their students off at the assigned program meeting area.
  • Taking guidance and leadership from Supervisor, Team Leads in instructional and group settings.
  • Responsible for in-depth product knowledge and understanding of all Ski/Snowboard products as well as all WinSport policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Current certification with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors or foreign equivalent. 
  • Up to date and current First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
  • High 5 certification is mandatory within first 3 months of employment. 
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be enthusiastic and bring a positive attitude to work.
  • Ability to demonstrate the understanding of a "Team Player" 
  • Experience dealing with children in an instructional setting considered an asset. 
  • A willingness to develop new skills as a Skier/Snowboarder and as an instructor through training and personal development
  • NCCP certification is considered an asset

As a Lift Mechanic you will be reporting to the Supervisor, Lift Operations & Park Grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Performing regular checks on the ski lifts and carpets
  • Planning and organizing a preventative maintenance schedule
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Monitoring the lifts to a Z98 code
  • Conducting necessary repairs and maintenance
  • Assisting in plant operations as required
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment

As a Lift Operator you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Lift Operations and Supervisor, Lift Operations & Park Grounds. You will be responsible for operating chair lifts safely and efficiently while providing all guests with friendly and quality customer service during the loading and unloading of the lift.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Provide a safe and enjoyable experience to all our guests
  • Perform ticket scanning and ensure all guests using the lift have a valid ticket or pass
  • Maintain all operational aspects of lifts including ramps, chairs, mazes, tools, signs, etc.
  • Provide a groomed and litter free environment to guests

Qualifications/Skills-You will have:

  • High school diploma (asset)

As a team member within the Academy department, the Club Coordinator will play a role in being part of Canada's leader in developing and sustaining world-caliber winter sport training.

Reporting to the Performance Manager of the Academy and working closely with the Mountain Division Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting with the delivery of the on hill activities within the club programs. This position will play an intricate role in providing support to both the coaches and parents to ensure there is a strong component of communication along with a high level of professionalism.

Previous experience with or knowledge of ski jumping, freestyle aerials and moguls, and alpine slalom is considered an asset. This position is required to work a variety of shift times and hours including on call based on weather conditions.

  • Operating the snowcat and other snow grooming vehicles
  • Snowmaking with the venue maintenance crew

  • Athlete Sign up assisting the PSO's with membership sign up ensure all WinSport Canada/CODA requirements are fulfilled including waiver, athlete user agreements and club forms, collect fees. Update the waiver database and contact database and keep filing up to date
  • Monitoring the icehouse timing system to ensure it is working effectively, resetting as required
  • Working with the icehouse schedule and bookings to ensure the data is accurate
  • Compiling statistical data for icehouse use on a weekly basis, and assisting with data tracking for Sport Operations and the Academy, as assigned.

• Assess instructors and coaches training, providing recommendations on how to enhance the personal performance of WinSport team thereby increasing the delivery of training to the athletes
• Develop policies and procedures that line with new recommendations and strategic direction
• Develop athlete training programs for both developing and high performing athletes.
• Conduct training session for WinSport school and academy team members on the new strategic direction.

Qualifications
This individual should be recognized in the field of Alpine Skiing and respected for their knowledge and integrity for what they bring to this sport. Other qualification would include but not limited to:

• Post-Secondary education in business or sport management, kinesiology or other related field of study
• Previous experience in the discipline of Alpine skiing as a coach or professional athlete
• Previous experience developing high performance athletes
• Previous experience working in world leading ski academies
• Strong commitment to promoting excellence in high performance athletes and youth in sport development
• Honest and open high level of personal integrity
• Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills
• Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
                       

The wage for this position is set at $50 per hour.
Primary location of work will be in Calgary, Alberta, with the occasional trip to the WinSport Canmore, Alberta location.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Ski and Snowboard School, You will be responsible for providing students and guests with a premium experience through the implementation of on hill program preparation and delivery. You will apply your love of leading to the supervision of all Instructors to ensure safe, friendly and efficient operation of Snow School Programs. You will also bring strong organizational skills to the position for creating the weekly schedule, daily placement of staff, and monitoring and training of Snow School personnel.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Provide excellent customer service by conducting call backs and responding to emails in a timely fashion.
  • Track inventory of equipment, progress cards, class cards and distribute accordingly.
  • Assist with set up of lessons and help customers with check in process.
  • Act as first point of contact for Instructors. 
  • Accurately keep track of Instructor shifts by timekeeping and managing instructor's hours in a timely manner.
  • Implement training and development to instructors.
  • Create schedule and ensure it is fair, accurate and is distributed in a timely fashion.
  • Provide feedback to instructors throughout the season and act as a mentor/role model to the team. 
  • Organize and assign classes to instructors for all assigned programs. Work with the Manager to ensure quality control in the delivery of all lessons.
  • Liaise with the Manager and Guest Services to provide consistent product delivery and premium guest experience. This includes indoor pre-program preparation to facilitate quick, efficient organization of classes on the snow.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of programs, students and instructors.
  • Responsible for in-depth product knowledge and understanding of all Ski & Snowboard programs as well as all WinSport products, policies and procedures
  • Assist with enforcement of Ski & Snowboard School and WinSport rules and regulations. Be especially vigilant in ensuring that all staff, hill users and other guests adheres to Duty of Care policies and the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Act as an ambassador for the Snow School and WinSport
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals 
  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments
  • Ensure safety orientation is completed with all new or returning employees covering all the required safety hazards and specific safety training for specific areas
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 1- 3 years of leadership experience in a related or other fields
  • 3-5 years of working with youth and adult programs
  • Standard First Aid and CPR "C".
  • Experience dealing with a large team made up of various cultures and demographics is considered an asset.
  • Strong Leadership skills are required
  • Must be CSIA, CASI or foreign equivalent certified and up to date.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Organization, multi tasking and prioritizing skills are essential
  • Demonstrate and apply leadership skills and excellent customer service
  • Previous conflict resolution experience is an asset
  • Strong decision making skills are essential. 
  • Strong pedagogy and mentoring skills are essential
  • Good understanding of Ski/Snowboard industry is considered an asset. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as word, excel is an asset.

  • Activities will concentrate primarily outdoors. Some indoor activities and preparation is required
  • Must act as an example and role model to all Snow Academy instructors and other Canada Olympic Park team members

As Venue Maintenance Crew, Park Grounds, you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Park Grounds and the Supervisor, Lift Operations & Park Grounds. You will be responsible for maintaining an attractive and clean outside environment for guests.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the outside park grounds, including the track, the ski hill, AIC, and parking lots 
  • Ensure all outdoor garbage cans are emptied, as required and debris is collected
  • Sweep the grounds in areas where required, as necessary
  • Shovel walkways and other areas, when required

Qualifications/Skills-You will have:

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Venue Maintenance Crew are part of the team responsible for the safe building and maintaining of our world class facilities at Canada Olympic Park.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining downhill mountain bike trails, dirt jumps, world cup half pipe, mogul run, skier cross course, ski and snowboard trails, cross country ski trail
  • Take down of snowmaking equipment 
  • Set up, maintenance and take down of mountain bike trails and dirt jumps
  • Venue maintenance around park site as required-picking up debris and disposal of garbage
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals

Qualifications

  • Experience working with snowmaking or high pressure systems
  • Competent skier/ rider
  • Knowledge of weather systems
  • Knowledge of hand tools, drills, skill saws 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

Physical Demands

  • Consistent and continuous crouching and bending
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects between 25lbs to 50lbs
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions-hot, cold, humid environments
  • Ability to maintain stamina for extended periods of time
  • Manipulation and gripping of power tools.
  • Hand/eye coordination

“I actually started out as a lifty, helping people on and off the lifts. Since then, I’ve worked my way up to supervisor. I’m proof that there’s a lot of room to grow within the company.”

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
