Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, instruct and coach a group of athletes in a safe, athlete centered learning environment

The Administrative Assistant is responsible in ensuring all clerical functions of the department are performed in an efficient, timely and professional manner. Responsibilities

  • Assist the department with clerical and administrative duties as required

Banquet Chef

The Banquet Cook must be able to work independently, often without supervision in the kitchen and banquet facilities, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

What the role is all about:

You have a craving to please guests with your food preparation and production skills and your intense curiosity about the creation of dishes at WinSport will lead you on a path to success within not just Operations-Food & Beverage but WinSport Canada. You have strong interpersonal and leadership skills though you will be required to work independently often without supervision in the kitchen and banquet facilities, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

As a Banquet Cook you will be reporting to and working under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. You have a strong attention to detail with all tasks you accomplish and set the bar high when being tasked with an assignment.

The Lounge Server / Bartender is responsible for serving and bartending duties for the newly opened Molson Hockey House overlooking the International Ice Arena at the Markin MacPhail Center at WinSport.

  • Ensure opening inventory is correct; add any transfers and ensure closing inventory is accurately counted and recorded.
  • Inform the appropriate persons of supplies necessary for restocking.
  • Keep the front bar clean.
  • Check glassware for cleanliness before its use.
  • Leave glassware in a clean condition.
  • Refrigerate juice and clean up any breakage or spillage, which has occurred.
  • Provide service and information to guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Administer the beverage bar according to ALGC laws relative to Canada Olympic Park's operating policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for refusing service to intoxicated persons.
  • Responsible for contacting Security in the event a person becomes belligerent.
  • Lock all liquor cabinets.

Scope of Position
The Business Systems Coordinator is responsible for maintenance and updating of the various Point of Sale and Accounting systems used by WinSport, as required to reflect constantly evolving programs and other products. Working closely with the Financial Analyst and the Controller, the successful candidate will utilize their business systems and data analysis experience to assist in the assessment and monitoring of WinSport's business performance, and to aid in creating sales and other financial performance reports.

This position will require the successful candidate to work with all departments within WinSport, and thus requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle a diverse range of personalities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
• Maintenance and updating of product sales databases (Resort Suite).
• Maintenance of Great Plains chart of accounts and department structure.
• First point of contact for resolution of non-technical system issues.
• Handle financial and other reporting requests from various departments.
• Create reports and queries utilizing Excel, Access and Crystal Reports to query underlying databases.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process and on-going forecasting.
• Ensure accuracy of the content and revenue reporting from various PoS Systems (Resort Suite, Profitek).
• Special project work as required.

• Knowledge/experience of accounting principles would be an advantage.

Scope of Position
The Community Relations Specialist is responsible for driving awareness, increasing communications with both internal and external stakeholders, and enhancing the company's brand and image in the community through assigned responsibilities and tasks. The Specialist will lead, execute and monitor various marketing and communications initiatives, managing timelines and ensuring that community relations programs are achieving their set targets. The Specialist will work closely with all WinSport marketing & communication team members, along with assigned WinSport department leads to ensure WinSport's standards and expectations are met.

Responsibilities
• Oversee and strategically execute WinSport's social media platforms on a daily basis. This includes catering, and growing WinSport's 12,000 plus Facebook followers and 5,000 plus twitter followers
• Develop, manage and execute a social media calendar that amplifies WinSport brand building activities and leverages topical and seasonal trends
• Develop, manage and execute an active inbound content calendar that supports the needs of internal stakeholders reinforcing the WinSport brand promise to both internal & external stakeholders
• Provide strategic guidance and execute all marketing initiatives focused in the social media channel
• Oversee and execute all WinSport videography needs, helping achieve the organizational marketing, promotional and communications strategic objectives
• Work with all WinSport departments to help identify social media and video support required to meet various targets
• Represent WinSport as an ambassador in Calgary and surrounding communities, growing and enhancing community engagement initiatives
• Work as a liaison with surrounding communities to assure they are aware of upcoming events and other WinSport initiatives.
• Give speaking presentations to targeted groups as required
• Ensure that WinSport community relations meet the needs of the organization, helping drive awareness of WinSport, it's brand and vision, with the overall goal of increasing WinSport consumers and partnerships

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Safety the Central Dispatcher has the responsibility to ensure the safe, coordinated and efficient operation of WinSport. As an internal communicator, the Central Dispatcher liaises with all departments of WinSport. The position ensures the proper designation and execution of park-wide calls and incidents including medical, security, safety, maintenance, and general inquiry calls

 Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities of this role could include, but will not be limited to:
  • Understand and recognize all departments of the park and understand each department's basic operation and function. Identify key contacts in each department
  • Become familiar with daily and current park operations, special events, closures, and activities
  • Monitor on duty Security, Paramedic, Pro-patrol, and volunteer Patrol staff
  • Relay Emergency medical and security incidents to proper personnel. Stage staff with respect to location of incident and equipment
  • Initiate emergency response procedures
  • Contact all appropriate "peripheral" team members regarding incidents. (Duty Managers, Communications, supervisors, etc)
  • Perform calls to emergency services including: Calgary Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical services. Stage staff appropriately
  • Input emergency and service information into computer system
  • Operate and monitor the closed circuit television system 
  • Provide general assistance to all areas of the park
  • Assist Security staff with information gathering and report writing
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate and updated key control system
  • Compile relevant statistics and summaries regarding dispatch calls/incidents

What the role is all about:

You have pride in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment when working in the kitchen and follow instructions closely when preparing food and accomplishing tasks during a shift. As a Dishwasher Preparation Cook, you will be reporting to the Sous Chef within the division of Operations-Food & Beverage.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the dishwasher
  • Prepare the dishes and utensils for washing - scrape, rinse and stack

Responsibilities
• All duties are performed in accordance with the Ski/Snowboard School Procedure Manual.
• Provide quality instruction to all ages and ability level of the students assigned to them.
• Presenting themselves as a representative of WinSport, Canada Olympic Park and the Ski/Snowboard School by acting in a professional, courteous manner.
• Carry out non-teaching duties listed as follows: hill set-up, rental shop assistance, hill take-down meet buses, organize school buses, organize school groups on arrival and check-in, etc., as assigned on main schedule.
• Assisting in the processing of programs, day camps and school groups before the actual lesson takes place.
• Accurately record the student's progression throughout each lesson on the student's progression card.
• Encouraging return visits and attendance to lessons from students by promoting the skill progression.
• Delivering clear and concise lesson details and information.
• Maintain accurate class cards including both the students first and last name, any transfers of a student to another instructor and current ability level. Class cards must be returned to the Team Leads after the lesson.

As a team member within the Academy department, the Club Coordinator will play a role in being part of Canada's leader in developing and sustaining world-caliber winter sport training.

Reporting to the Performance Manager of the Academy and working closely with the Mountain Division Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting with the delivery of the on hill activities within the club programs. This position will play an intricate role in providing support to both the coaches and parents to ensure there is a strong component of communication along with a high level of professionalism.

  • Is responsible for delivering the on-hill activities of the club programs

Responsibilities

  • BNTC/Icehouse reception desk duties include answering telephones, assisting guests and athletes, membership sales and other reception functions including distribution of incoming/outgoing mail and faxes
  • Clean all weight room equipment during shift and ensure all weight equipment is replaced to the correct location
  • Complete hourly checks on the gymnasium, weight room, meeting rooms and washrooms - tidy as required
  • Clean and tidy the reception area including the counter, desk, all glass doors and printer every evening

  • Monitoring the icehouse timing system to ensure it is working effectively, resetting as required
  • Working with the icehouse schedule and bookings to ensure the data is accurate
  • Compiling statistical data for icehouse use on a weekly basis, and assisting with data tracking for Sport Operations and the Academy, as assigned.

We are currently looking for temporary Snow Cat Operators to join our team for the Winter 2013 season. Previous experience with or knowledge of ski jumping, freestyle aerials and moguls, and alpine slalom is considered an asset. • Operating the snowcat and other snow grooming vehicles
• Snowmaking with the venue maintenance crew

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the outside park grounds, including the track, the ski hill, AIC, and parking lots 
  • Ensure all outdoor garbage cans are emptied, as required and debris is collected
  • Sweep the grounds in areas where required, as necessary
  • Shovel walkways and other areas, when required
  • Maintain landscape and turf maintenance for all park grounds and venues
  • Ensure care and maintenance of pageantry, banners and flags
  • Believe in safety first; demonstrating a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests. This includes being mindful of all safety hazards/concerns and ensure safety issues are reported
  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distributed or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments

Qualifications/Skills-You will have:

  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic and initiative
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Weight Room Attendant

The Weight Room Attendant is to support the athlete training environment at the Bob Niven Training Centre (BNTC) by providing supervision of the training areas, and guidance to patrons re: training safety and appropriate code of conduct within the facility.

The individual will work closely with the Coordinator, Sport Management to ensure the training environment is appropriately maintained to meet the needs of the athletes and Canadian Sport Institute (CSI) strength and conditioning coaches who provide training services at the BNTC.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and help organize the weight room and overall training equipment at the BNTC on an ongoing basis.
  • Inventory the weight room equipment and help inform ongoing equipment repairs and needs for training and new programming.
  • Provide training support/guidance, where necessary, to athlete patrons of the BNTC.
  • Enforce code of conduct within the facility, and manage any behavior concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness within the training areas, as per WinSport Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Liaise with CSI strength and conditioning coaches to ensure the training environment is congruent with facility and WinSport athlete programming requirements.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Kinesiology or related field an asset.
  • Recognized fitness/training professional certifications an asset.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Able to lift 45 pounds unassisted.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team situation.

Working Conditions

  • 20-25 hours per week, afternoons and evenings.

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
