Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, instruct and coach a group of athletes in a safe, athlete centered learning environment

Banquet Chef

The Banquet Cook must be able to work independently, often without supervision in the kitchen and banquet facilities, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

  • Works under the direction of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef

What the role is all about:

You have a craving to please guests with your food preparation and production skills and your intense curiosity about the creation of dishes at WinSport will lead you on a path to success within not just Operations-Food & Beverage but WinSport Canada. You have strong interpersonal and leadership skills though you will be required to work independently often without supervision in the kitchen and banquet facilities, carrying out the assigned daily food production as scheduled.

As a Banquet Cook you will be reporting to and working under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. You have a strong attention to detail with all tasks you accomplish and set the bar high when being tasked with an assignment.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate leadership skills; Supervise other assigned kitchen staff when necessary and communicate with all staff in a friendly yet professional manner

The Lounge Server / Bartender is responsible for serving and bartending duties for the newly opened Molson Hockey House overlooking the International Ice Arena at the Markin MacPhail Center at WinSport.

  • Responsible for contacting Security in the event a person becomes belligerent.
  • Lock all liquor cabinets.

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Safety the Central Dispatcher has the responsibility to ensure the safe, coordinated and efficient operation of WinSport. As an internal communicator, the Central Dispatcher liaises with all departments of WinSport. The position ensures the proper designation and execution of park-wide calls and incidents including medical, security, safety, maintenance, and general inquiry calls

 Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities of this role could include, but will not be limited to:
  • Understand and recognize all departments of the park and understand each department's basic operation and function. Identify key contacts in each department
  • Become familiar with daily and current park operations, special events, closures, and activities
  • Monitor on duty Security, Paramedic, Pro-patrol, and volunteer Patrol staff
  • Relay Emergency medical and security incidents to proper personnel. Stage staff with respect to location of incident and equipment
  • Initiate emergency response procedures
  • Contact all appropriate "peripheral" team members regarding incidents. (Duty Managers, Communications, supervisors, etc)
  • Perform calls to emergency services including: Calgary Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical services. Stage staff appropriately
  • Input emergency and service information into computer system
  • Operate and monitor the closed circuit television system 
  • Provide general assistance to all areas of the park
  • Assist Security staff with information gathering and report writing
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate and updated key control system
  • Compile relevant statistics and summaries regarding dispatch calls/incidents
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have the ability to multi-task. He/she will have an undergraduate degree in a related discipline as well as the following:
  • Mature, friendly, customer service orientated individual with excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Post secondary education in Criminology or Recreation an asset
  • Experience working in a public or recreational facility is an asset

You have pride in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment when working in the kitchen and follow instructions closely when preparing food and accomplishing tasks during a shift. As a Dishwasher Preparation Cook, you will be reporting to the Sous Chef within the division of Operations-Food & Beverage.

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the dishwasher
  • Prepare the dishes and utensils for washing - scrape, rinse and stack

  • Maintain the dishwasher area

 Guest Service Ambassador

Our Guest Service Ambassadors are vital to the smooth operation and Guest Experience at WinSport. They offer exceptional Customer Service to our guests as well as supporting our Guest Service Specialists during our busy time periods.

Responsibilities

  • Providing the safest and most enjoyable experience to all our guests 
  • Socialize with guests at all touch points, talk positively and provide encouragement and thankfulness that they are at Winsport
  • Assisting guests on the lifts and providing an exciting up uplifting experience during the process
  • Ensure all guest facilities and ski/snow board lines are safe from obstructions and taken care of with pride 
  • Greet and provide general directions to guests with the Winsport pride and customer service excellence.
  • Assist our guests who may have special needs
  • Perform ticket scanning and ensure all guests using the lift have a valid ticket or pass
  • Handle line control and mingle with guests during peak times at the ski lifts, equipment rentals and Guest Services desks
  • Create an environment of fun both internally and with all our guests
  • Act as a "Welcome Ambassador" for our arriving guests to the Winsport facility
  • Support and perform tasks that are provided by the Guest Experience leadership team

  • Conduct facility tours for prospective members of the High Performance Training Centre
  • Maintain cleanliness of the fitness equipment in the High Performance Training Centre

Responsibilities
• All duties are performed in accordance with the Ski/Snowboard School Procedure Manual.
• Provide quality instruction to all ages and ability level of the students assigned to them.

• Carry out non-teaching duties listed as follows: hill set-up, rental shop assistance, hill take-down meet buses, organize school buses, organize school groups on arrival and check-in, etc., as assigned on main schedule.

• Accurately record the student's progression throughout each lesson on the student's progression card.

  • Conduct monthly inventory
  • Cooking and prepping of fast food items i.e. burgers, fries, sandwiches
  • Execution of Health & Safety processes such as hazard assessments, monthly health & safety checks and WCB procedures
  • Open and close the outlet according to standard procedures
  • Prepare funds for deposit
  • Prepare food, clean utensils and equipment and report equipment malfunctions
  • Take and fill food orders in exchange for the proper amount of money, make correct change as necessary
  • Supervise & delegate to food court attendants & shift leads
  • Assist in conducting end of season performance reviews and performance management of employees
  • Maintain the worksite in a neat and clean fashion
  • Provide friendly, courteous service and offer information to guests about Canada Olympic Park and the entire WinSport operation
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals 
  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distrusted or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments
  • Ensure safety orientation is completed with all new or returning employees covering all the required safety hazards and specific safety training for specific areas
  • Perform other related duties as required from time to time

Qualifications

  • One to three years experience in managing operations and staff in a quick food service environment
  • Experience training quick food service employees in various process e.g. cash handling, customer service, up selling, processing transactions, food safe standards
  • Working knowledge of OH&S standards in a food & beverage environment
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Enthusiasm, dependability and good organization skills are essential
  • Tact and good verbal communication skills are necessary when dealing with the public
  • Experience in cash handling is an asset

The Track Foreman is responsible for providing leadership and direction to all members of the Track Crew in maintaining the Olympic Track to the expectations of the Supervisor, Track Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and leadership to all members of Track Crew throughout their shift, ensuring that ice conditions are maintained to acceptable standards
  • Ensure all track and ice house operations are performed in the safest possible manner conforming to Occupation Health and Safety Standards

Qualifications

  • The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to high school completion or partial high school with specialized training
  • The person can read text of medium difficulty requiring an understanding of basic concepts. He/she may be expected to write text intended to communicate non-technical information and, display command of spelling, grammar, punctuation and basic composition. People working at this level can be required to have certain specialized skills, and be able to comprehend somewhat complicated procedures
  • Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is one to three years

Physical Demands

  • The job is constantly required to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing more than 20 lbs. (without the assistance of mobile, powered equipment)
  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is occasionally required (i.e., between 5% and 25% of time on the job)

What the role is all about:

As Venue Maintenance Crew, Park Grounds, you will be reporting to the Team Lead, Park Grounds and the Supervisor, Lift Operations & Park Grounds. You will be responsible for maintaining an attractive and clean outside environment for guests. 

Responsibilities-You will be required but not limited to:

  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the outside park grounds, including the track, the ski hill, AIC, and parking lots 
  • Ensure all outdoor garbage cans are emptied, as required and debris is collected
  • Sweep the grounds in areas where required, as necessary
  • Shovel walkways and other areas, when required
  • Maintain landscape and turf maintenance for all park grounds and venues
  • Ensure care and maintenance of pageantry, banners and flags
  • Believe in safety first; demonstrating a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports and WinSport guests. This includes being mindful of all safety hazards/concerns and ensure safety issues are reported

Qualifications/Skills-You will have:

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

“I actually started out as a lifty, helping people on and off the lifts. Since then, I’ve worked my way up to supervisor. I’m proof that there’s a lot of room to grow within the company.”

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
